Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Information Technology or similar
  • Typically has 5 - 8 years in developing innovative, technical products
  • Possesses project management skillsets and experience, ability to gain consensus, make decisions and escalate in a timely and clear fashion
  • Working knowledge of software development processes including the ability to evaluate and prioritize enhancement requests for software products, set software product release schedules and create software product forecasts
  • Knowledge of several software development life cycle methodologies; Agile SCRUM is desirable
  • Certified Product Manager is desirable
 
Responsibilities:
  • Reviews current internal systems and platforms and makes recommendations to the backlog to implement feature updates or bug fixes
  • Researches market trends and creates product requirements documents, which capture business reasons for new ITS products or services
  • Establishes core knowledge of industry norms and stays abreast of latest developments
  • Understands key technologies and platforms, integration best practices and incorporation of third party APIs and open source/reusable components
  • Develops internal relationships with Product Owners to facilitate product implementation throughout other divisions
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to establish initial product buy-in and with quality assurance and project management to facilitate acceptance testing of releases
  • Works with communications to develop user guides, training and training schedules for different stakeholder groups
  • Participates in the planning for future changes to products and services
  • Analyzes product metrics post release to proactively identify and optimize to user experience and product performance
  • Responsible for product development of internal systems, tools and platforms supporting operational capabilities within ITS
  • Ensures customer-driven design, considering user pain points and usability test results, while using market & industry knowledge to deliver a well-positioned product
  • Drives product requirements and feature roadmaps from concept through delivery
  • Identifies key opportunities for improvement, as well as development of technical or process enhancements to increase operational efficiencies, or reduce costs associated with the use of internal tools
  • Anticipates industry and product trends, capability prioritization and tradeoffs, balancing business needs versus technical and resource constraints
  • Communicates portfolio and project updates to managers and stakeholders
  • Develops content for marketing collateral and supports training to ensure successful product launch
  • May own product portfolio and drives product strategy and direction for ITS-led initiatives
  • Occasionally leads the analysis of feasibility, cost ramifications, economies, or other aspects of the product portfolio
  • Occasionally develops and manages the process for communication and partnership with all stakeholders through interactive sessions or technology tools
  • Occasionally launch planning and implementation, including beta and acceptance testing, pilot programs and user training
  • May provide feedback, support and coaching in sprint and release plans

  • Occasionally works on highly-complex technology solutions or manages product portfolio that require in-depth knowledge across multiple business or system-wide
  • May be viewed as an expert and provides knowledge and counsel to others
  • Serves as a project team member
